For many travelers the big question is: can I rent a motorcycle in Colombia without a Colombian license? The answer is yes. Most of our customers are foreigners riding with licenses from the United States, Europe or Latin America.
Requirements to rent with Rentamotos Colombia
- Valid motorcycle driving license, from Colombia or any country. The motor-tricycle requires a B1 license.
- ID document: valid passport or national ID.
- Age: 23 or older.
- Experience: at least 1 year riding a motorcycle.
- Security deposit: in cash or by credit or debit card.
Is my foreign license valid?
Yes. Colombia allows tourists to drive with their valid home-country license during their stay. We only check that the license covers motorcycles, is active and genuine. We recommend always carrying your passport with the entry stamp.
How much is the deposit?
It depends on the bike: between $1,100,000 and $1,800,000 COP. The exact amount for each model is in our price list. By credit card, we request the reversal 8 business days after the bike is returned and your bank may take another 4 to 10 days to show it; in cash, we hold $600,000 COP for 8 business days and the rest is returned when you drop off the bike.
What does the rental include?
2 helmets, 2 reflective vests, phone holder, theft, loss and third-party insurance, SOAT and technical inspection, 24/7 roadside assistance and towing.
